Usain Bolt, Jamaica claim relay gold as USA botch last handover!!!

Usain Bolt wins his third gold of the World Athletics Championships by leading home Jamaica in the 4x100m relay – but Great Britain throw away their chance of a medal on the final baton change. Great Britain were in medal contention until James Ellington failed to get the baton to CJ Ujah for the final leg.
The 29-year-old, who had already won the 100 and 200 metres events, ran the anchor leg as the Jamaicans took gold in 37.36 seconds at the Bird’s Nest Stadium.

15th IAAF World Athletics Championships Beijing 2015 - Day EightIn a race littered with mistakes. The United States team featuring Justin Gatlin, who won silver behind Bolt in both individual sprints, botched their final handover between Tyson Gay and Mike Rodgers and were disqualified after finishing second.
That elevated hosts China to a hugely popular silver medal in 38.01 with Canada taking the bronze in 38.13.

His team mates Nesta Carter, Asafa Powell and Nickel Ashmeade helped extend Jamaica’s dominance of the sprint relay to a sixth straight major global championships, including the last two Olympics.
Meanwhile, Jamaica, anchored by Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, clocked the second fastest time in history to retain their women’s 4×100 metres relay title.
Veronica Campbell-Brown, Natasha Morrison and 200 metres silver medallist Elaine Thompson ensured Fraser-Pryce had a good lead when she took the baton and the 100 metres champion stormed across the line in 41.07 seconds.
The United States finished second in 41.68 with the early pace of the Jamaicans giving anchor Allyson Felix, the 400 metres champion in Beijing, no chance of catching Fraser-Pryce.
Trinidad and Tobago won the bronze in a national record of 42.03 ahead of Britain, whose 42.10 was also the best time ever run by the nation’s top women sprinters.
Britain got some good news ahead of next year’s London Olympics, with Mo Farah holding off Bernard Lagat of the U.S. to win the men’s 5,000. Farah also won silver in the 10,000 last weekend.
It was about the only middle and long distance race that went wrong for Kenya.
From the starting gun to Sunday’s last day, Kenya dominated. On Sunday morning, Abel Kirui led teammate Vincent Kipruto to yet another 1-2 finish in the men’s marathon.
The defending champion won by the biggest margin in championship history, and after finishing the race in 2:07:38, he had to wait 2:28 to welcome Kipruto in a sweaty embrace.
It left Kenya with seven gold and 17 medals overall for third place in the standings.
“This is history,” Kirui said. “It is also good (for) the country. It is good for my family. It is great.”
